tress is a curious animal.
Ever feel like stress is your constant companion?
There were times when stress lurked behind my every decision, challenge, and unknown.
I discovered very recently that it's the shadow of stillness.
Game changing.
Today, we'll explore how to master stress. You do so not by changing the world around you, but by changing your inner world.
Stress affects our health, relationships, work, and happiness. Understanding and managing stress is crucial for living a fulfilled life. If you're prone to it, imagine living with peace and clarity, where stress doesn't control your actions or emotions.
People believe that reducing stress means changing jobs, relationships, or financial situations. They look for external solutions to an internal problem.
The real key to reducing stress lies within you. When you change how you see things and use simple practices, you reclaim your inner peace.
Today, we'll explore the following:
If you're stressed emotionally, your body will suffer.
Emotional problems are the greatest cause of illness on our planet.
Stress is not your fault, but ti's your responsibility.
Our environment is, for many, more anxiogenic than ever. We feel stress when we're surrounded by people who are fearful.
You can relieve temporary stress by connecting to your body and breathing.
Deep, slow belly breathing activates the parasympathetic system and the vagus nerve.
This region of your body has the power to anchor you in stillness.
When you feel tense, allow your attention to be on your belly.
Let your breath fill it completely.
Don't force.
Exhale slowly until your lungs are empty.
Relax your body as you exhale.
Do this until you've felt calmer.
Remember, you're one breath away from inner peace.
Whether you're restless or stuck, stress operates on many levels. Its primary impact is on the physical plane, inside your body.
On the longer run, it's vital to restore our internal stress mechanism. We need to make it healthy, useful, and sensitive again.
Neurologically, the brain can't tell reality from imagination.
The same stress hormones are at work. This is true whether you're in a stressful situation or imagining it.
"I've had some terrible experiences in my life. And some of them really happened." Mark Twain.
We look at the world through the filter of our stories. In other words, you see the world as you are, not as it is. As long as you think your stories are true, you will look outside yourself to change something.
When stress levels become too uncomfortable, it becomes urgent to change jobs, relationships, move... But in fact, you can change within yourself. There's only one thing between what's happening to you and what it's doing to you: your perception.
Your internal dialogue shapes your reality.
And stress often amplifies the harsh, critical voices in your head.
The technique below is inspired by NLP and Paul McKenna. It helps you notice and change your internal dialogue.
Your mind's activity is a manifestation of stress itself. It creates a loop that reinforces anxiety. Breaking this loop is key to reclaiming your peace.
The connection between the heart and brain is profound.
HeartMath research shows that heart coherence can cut stress. It can also boost thinking and well-being.
Learn the simple practice of heart coherence to harmonize your thoughts and emotions. Remember, if you let stress lead you away from the beautiful and the simple, you lose touch with your peace.
